The UK is home to many famous brands such as Bentley, Morgan, Rover, Jaguar, Lotus and MG but with so many now under foreign stewardship (Rolls Royce, Aston Martin, and Mini to name just three). The significance of the British Motor Show has been in decline for many years. Now for the first time in 30 years the auto show in Britain is back in London in 2006 with a new look. 2006 took a special look at the smart car and its abilities attracted a crowd curious of the future in automobiles. The new Opel/Vauxhall Corsa is the most significant new design to be launched at the press day opening of the Motor Show. The Vauxhall brand is used in the UK, while the Opel brand is used in the rest of Europe. Jaguar unveiled three new models at the 2006 British International Motor Show. All refined and tuned to attract another large crowd. Whether the British Motor Show will be able to elevate itself on the international motor show scene is debatable, but for now it has a unique appeal that is truly relevant to the automotive design community.
